Lewis: People want leadership. And in the absence of genuine leadership, they will listen to anyone who steps up to the microphone. They want leadership, Mr. President. They’re so thirsty for it, they’ll crawl through the desert toward a mirage, and when they discover there’s no water, they’ll drink the sand.

Shepherd: Lewis, we’ve had Presidents who were beloved, who couldn’t find a coherent sentence with two hands and a flashlight. People don’t drink the sand because they’re thirsty, Lewis. They drink it because they don’t know the difference. Physical Health Eat Well I've been known to give a dish or food a creative name, I guess ('Flying saucers and Asteroids' is one of our favorite dishes; also known as Lentil and Cauliflower stew).  But Salad Frosting?  Hmm. https://www.eater.com/2019/6/12/18661753/salad-frosting-ranch-dressing-kraft Be Active Exercise is good for your muscles and for your brain!  I just read another article that said it's  good for your skin, too! https://medicalxpress.com/news/2019-07-reveals-short-bout-brain-function.html Let's move! Count Down workout - Start your music! Do the movements in each group together in the order and with the number of repetitions prescribed.

Group 1 - Count down 10 to 1 (start with 10 reps of each exercise, then 9, then 8, …) 1.  Skaters 2.  Pull ups (inverted row) or hands-off push-ups – If you can do pull-ups and have a bar, go to it!  You can do this from any strong surface that will support your weight (for the inverted row; I used the back of two sturdy chairs).  Hands-off push up is a full push-up to the ground, hands out to the sides, back to position and push up to the top.  Repeat. Group 2 - Count up 1 to 10 (start with 1 rep of each, then 2, then 3, …) 3.  Squat thrust (You can skip the push-up; you’ve already done a few of those. J) 4.  Body weight lateral lunge + front kick (do all of the reps on one leg, then do the other.  On the kick, no momentum. Slow steady deliberate movements) Group 3 - Count down 10 to 1   (start with 10 reps of each exercise, then 9, then 8, …) 6. Mountain climber 7. Slider plank tuck (you can use wash cloths, paper towels, socks,..) 8.  Single leg Warrior III + tap down (do all of the reps on one leg, then do the other.  Slow steady deliberate movements) Spiritual Health I know, I get it: Some days, staying in a positive frame of mind can be more challenging than others.  Doesn't mean you have to let that bad mood win, though.  And, the more you practice being positive, the more likely that will become your 'go to.' https://time.com/5429498/how-to-be-more-positive-person Mental & Emotional Health Sometimes we should act our (emotional) age because that is what is expected of us.  Other times, it is probably the best choice, https://ggsc.berkeley.edu/what_we_do/event/fierce_self_compassion_integrating_yin_and_yang_self_compassion_to_heal_and?_ga=2.12241463.260796577.1560969661-1100998420.1560969661 Social Health The many considerations of skinny dipping ... and also, why it's okay to know your own mind. https://www.outsideonline.com/2397736/should-you-go-skinny-dipping Posts from HealthyExpatParent.com/Facebook Monday! Woohoo! My link for you is about dinnertime; specifically the importance of it with your family. I know, we all get so busy, every member going their own different direction, coming home at a different time, but having time together as a family unit is so very important. https://www.mindbodygreen.com/articles/back-to-school-how-and-why-you-should-make-room-for-family-dinner New Recipe:  Carrot Almond Coffee Cake.  My kids were advocating for the addition of chocolate chips; I thought maybe raisins might be nice.  I guess you'll have to make it and let us know which, if either, you think. https://www.heprecipe.com/post/carrot-almond-coffee-cake Two things: I would like to applaud this mom for completing not wigging out, and second, not the best use of American peanut butter.
