Willpower is overrated.

If you want to eat healthier, don’t work hard to avoid stopping at the cookie jar when you walk into the kitchen. Get rid of the cookie jar.  Systems are long-lasting, widespread and resilient. We can push back on them with effort, but over time, the system usually comes out ahead.  Once we see a system, we can change it.

Happy Monday!  Best mood boost?  Being greeted by a furry friend who is SO EXCITED TO SEE YOU.  I mean, who doesn’t love being unconditionally loved?  (You knew this was coming) Read on for the science behind that enthusiastic greeting:

A middle Eastern-inspired chicken bowl that will knock their socks off. A tasty chicken-and-veg sauce served with roasted potatoes and broccoli and hummus.  A great weeknight option thanks to ground chicken as the base of the sauce.  Hope you try it!

New post: To rest or not to rest, that is the question. And yes, you absolutely should add a rest day into your fitness schedule.

Eat Well

Fiber is definitely your friend, and apparently your gut microbiome’s bestie.

Be Active

Flexibility is one part of the realm of physical wellness many of us either take for granted or assume you just aren't flexible and there is nothing you can do about it.  Well, actually, like all of the other parts (strength, cardiovascular fitness, good nutrition), you can build your flexibility.  C'mon, let's touch our toes!

Let's move!

First you're up, then you're down.  Ready to really get a sweat on?  Each move is 4 rounds of 20 seconds on.  Ready?  Start your music!

Spiritual Health

Let’s get rid of science class in school.  Instead, beginning in kindergarten, we could devote a class to curiosity and explanation.  A class that persistently and consistently teaches kids to ask why and to answer how.  The unacceptable single-word answers are “because” and “magic.”

Curiosity is a skill, and it can be taught.

Mental & Emotional Health

It’s not that we’re gullible.  It’s that humans actually do like to think the best of others.

3 signs of an irreplaceable friend:

1.  Their humor is on the same wavelength as yours

2. If they find something useful, they share it with you so you can also benefit

3.  When they ask you "how are you?" they want the realest version of your truth.

Be your best, friends
