Eat Well

Unfortunately, in times of stress, we turn to food.  it's a human thing.  unfortunately, it is also the kind of eating that might not be the most healthy.

Spiritual Health

This is one of those hard-to-fit articles, in that I am not sure where to put it on this newsletter, but I find it fascinating.  The article is a little geek-y (can't help it) but still, how cool is it that they have identified a 'healthy' personality, and (you knew it was coming) there is a quiz that can help you see where you stand on these particular traits.

And another one detailing the traits

Mental & Emotional Health

Do you feel as though your memory is going?  As though your brain is taxed by way too many details to keep track of?  Luckily, we can help with that.

Social Health

This is a good time to check in with how you are feeling about your social wellness.  If you can, take a few moments and really think about the honest answer to these questions.  If you are motivated to do so, it is often helpful to write your answers down.  Not only does this practice help you to analyze how you feel right now, but it also can help you to notice any trends or changes if you save your answers to look at later.

· Do I like who I am with my friends?

· Am I proud of the person I am when I am with my friends?

· Am I my honest best self when I am with my friends?

As are all of the other emotions we feel as parents, parenting guilt is real and huge. Guilt, though, can become a heavy burden. The answer? Self-compassion. Acknowledging we do the best we can for our little people, that we are the best parents we can be, is a huge gift for our parenting selves. Let that be your gift to yourself.

OMG! I can think of a lot of different tools a parent can use to keep up on the whereabouts of their kids.

Hm. Interesting. And, I suppose, visa versa (wife thinks husband is her best friend). I do think, though, that women tend to have more friends outside of the marriage than do men.

This is a great article about self-actualized people and, more importantly, describes the characteristics of self-actualized individuals. They include a link for a test where you can determine your level of self-actualization and, depending on how happy you are (or not) with your score) ways you can improve your related skills and characteristics. Very cool, especially when one considers those who are more capable at these characteristics tend to be happier and more satisfied.
