Physical Health

Eat Well

Sometimes, to 'be well' we have to understand that we can't do EVERYTHING that is prescribed to be 'healthy'... and that is 100% okay.

Be Active

This is one of the coolest websites I've seen focusing on exercise.  You can learn about the different muscle groups, and find specific exercises for each group.  This is probably most useful for those who have access to a gym, and weight machines, but free-weight and body weight exercises are also included.

Workout time!

The timer is in the link above.  This is a Hi-lo Tababa that will give you a good sweat.  Turn on your favorite music and get it done!

Workout #2

This is a subscription website, but it is one that I found in my search for a yoga class.  You can try it out for 2 weeks for free, though, so do it, and try as many classes as you can.  I found a few favorite instructors.  Ironically, this first workout I am sharing with you is not actually yoga.   :) I like this guy’s class, though, as well as the second one I am going to share, right below it.

This first one is a total body strength workout:

This is an abs and core workout.  I not help but giggle at some of the commentary in this one.

Spiritual Health

I can appreciate a good Wellness website.  Sometimes, it feels like there is SO much information out there, and not all of it aligns with what we already know and believe. So then, are we wrong?  Did we make a mistake?  Or, more likely, are there actually other schools of thought?  I think we all know the correct answer to these questions.  Spirituality is one of those topics that people have many viewpoints and opinions about.  And, most importantly, it is essential for an individual to understand what it means for them.  Ones spirituality is not at all the same thing as ones religiousness, although that could be a component.  Take a look at this insightful page and Take the time to ask yourself the questions.  Hopefully, you’ll attain greater clarity on various aspects of your own spiritual wellness.

Mental & Emotional Health

How often do you feel guilty?  Turns out, the more often and likely you are to feeling guilt ('guilt-proneness' according to the researchers in this study), the more likely you are to be found trustworthy.  Why the link?  because you will also be more likely to take responsibility for your actions.  Who knew that Catholic guilt was actually a good thing?    https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2018/07/180719125858.htm And another study that shows that higher emotional intelligence is good for your health.  In this case, higher EQ is related to better performance in endurance activities: presumably this is related because 'you are better at managing the inevitable negative mid-race emotions without slowing down, and also because those with higher EQ tend to be more optimistic as well has more confident in their abilities, so they set higher pre-race goals.   https://www.outsideonline.com/2332416/how-emotional-intelligence-boosts-your-endurance?

Social Health

Isn’t it funny, the things that we look forward to with our partners-in-crime?  Isn’t it funny, the things that define the ‘best’ with them?  It’s never a bad thing to deliberately spend time with our favorite big person, hence the popularity of ‘date night’, right?  Even a billionaire such as Oprah Winfrey has her own idea of what is the best way to spend a night with her favorite person.  What’s your favorite?  Can you, this week, make it happen? https://mashable.com/2018/08/04/oprah-reveals-date-night-secrets-instagram/?utm_cid=hp-r-13#q94HI9DJzPqn Links from the Blog/FB: We get to celebrate National Chocolate Chip Cookie day a little late this year (it was 4 August). This isn't necessarily 'healthy' but a cookie a day is good for mental, emotional and social (if you share!) wellness, right?https://www.healthyexpatparent.com/…/2…/08/07/Recipe-Cookies https://www.fatherly.com/…/winnie-the-pooh-quotes-useful-p…/“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard?” https://imperfectfamilies.com/parenting-beliefs-interfere-effective-discipline/ What we do say can actually be counter-productive for our parenting.   https://pickanytwo.net/partner-with-your-childs-teacher/ As we draw near the beginning of school, let's commit to doing what we can for our children to fully succeed at school. https://medium.com/s/story/why-you-can-never-eat-just-one-oreo-13b9c95c75bd Omigosh! There are many reasons to reach for the carrot vice the oreo but who knew it was because of hormone manipulation! Terrible foods, indeed! Be your best, friends s
