New post: I had to do this once, way back when the kids were little, and my husband was in Kabul. It was late - well past the boys’ bedtime - but the 24-hour pharmacy finally just got the medicine my youngest needed. I couldn’t leave them home, and so I bundled them into the car in their jammies, and they all fell asleep in the car as we drove over to pick up the medicine. I felt like such a criminal, trying to figure out if I should wake them up, or take the 3 minutes to run in without them. When I got back to the car, there was one parked next time mine, and a woman stepped out. I thought, ‘here it comes...’. She told me that she had been watching the car and the kids to make sure they were okay while her husband ran in to get their medicine. I have to say, I was not expecting that bit of support from this woman; an unexpected gift on that otherwise challenging evening. https://www.scarymommy.com/left-kids-alone-real-danger/?
