Eat Well

I write about 'mindful eating', and being mindful and tuning in and ... sometimes you just want to have a snack already.  But.  Why it is so important to be in tune with what you are feeling and doing at the same time is because sometimes our emotions drive our actions in not-necessarily-healthful ways.  (real life translation: you don't really want that cake/cookie/chips; you just had a crappy day and want some feel-good food.)  I'm not saying that this is an evil action; but what I am saying is that this might be what is blocking your intention to eat (mostly) well, and this might be something that is keeping you from achieving your weight loss goals (if you have them).  Stress eating isn't likely to make you feel better about your stress, either, and may result in residual guilt.

It's sad but true: some people are manipulative, and will do their very best to use you to get what they want.  The good news is that you don't have to take it.

This both breaks my heart, and also gives me encouragement. Breaks my heart because as a mom of boys, I hate that they feel as though they are not allowed to express their human emotions. Encourages because I know I can make a difference for helping to keep them emotionally happy, more stable, and more courageous by being there for them. Boys, too, need to express their emotions.
