If you trip and fall, this doesn’t necessarily mean that you are going in the wrong direction." (Chinese proverb)

Eat Well

There are so many articles out there about fasting, and how it is good for 'resetting' one's nutrition, kick-starting weight loss, and how it can have beneficial impact on various health aspects like cholesterol levels.  If you are interested in trying a variation, and you have a doctor's okay, be sure to stay hydrated and when you do break your fast, do it in a smart and healthful manner.  I have to tell you, I am not a fan, but others claim it works.  Be sure to do your homework BEFORE you start.

Speaking of confusing articles, what's the deal with coconut oil?  One week it's the best thing sliced bread and the next it is pure poison.  A few thoughts on both pro and con of it.

Be Active

This article has been making the rounds.  I find it fascinating that the class that kids either LOVE or LOATHE in school can make such a huge mark on their future exercising self.

Getting outside gives us fresh air, motivation for movement, perks up our circadian rhythm and makes us happy.  Win win!

Mental & Emotional Health

Typically, this isn't where I would add a post from my blog, but honestly, some of the reminders I gave myself in this week's post really hit on feeling mentally and emotionally drained and what we can do about it.  Because, in the end, it really is our role to do something about it, right?

Social Health

I know, on the surface 'conflict' doesn't really seem to be in line with 'social wellness' except that one of the skills we (should) learn and hone as we age is how to deal with conflict.  And part of what we might be conflicted about may also be a piece of a relationship to which we are not giving proper attention.

Happy Monday! This morning's link is about the Family Meal: you hear over and over how great it is to incorporate more sit-down meals as a family. Trouble is, especially as your kids get older and the importance of the together-time increases, the scatter quotient increases as well. Everyone's schedules are full full full. It's not impossible, though. https://www.nytimes.com/guides/well/make-most-of-family-table?action=click&module=Smarter%20Living&pgtype=Homepage&redirect=true

New recipe: My take on Panzanella. Easy and flavorful, lots of veggies, with or without chicken/pork. https://www.healthyexpatparent.com/single-post/2018/08/28/Recipe-Panzanella-with-chicken
